- Medium-Duty Hopper Bins are designed for storage and aeration only, NO DRYING; wet grain (over 16% moisture) may be stored short-term for a maximum of 72 hours, aeration is needed for storage
Hopper Features
- Feature legs formed in our extra-strong stiffener profile
- Legs extend to the bottom two rings, providing extra support for the sidewall sheets
- 12', 15', and 18' diameter bins have three legs per sidewall sheet
- 21' diameter bins have four legs per sidewall sheet
- Angle-shaped leg cross bracing and C-shaped leg-to-hopper bracing (18' & 21') provide solid support for the hopper bins
- The hopper is made of heavy-gauge, galvanized steel for strength and durability
- Hopper is connected directly to the sidewall, so there is no ledge or lip to trap grain
- Round head bolts on hopper portion minimize grain build-up
- Rack and pinion opener comes standard on all Medium-Duty Hopper Bins
Roof Features
- 12'-21' standard roof peak load rating is 5,000 lbs, evenly distributed on peak ring as pure vertical load with uniformly distributed roof snow load calculated from 40 psf ground snow zone or 105 mph wind zone as defined by ASCE7-10 Code
- Rigidized roof panel with 3" ribs that serve as rafters, strengthening the roof sheets
- Continuous eave clip provides a strong roof-to-sidewall connection
- Roof rings are standard on Sukup bins 18' and larger. Exclusive, roof ring clips (U.S. Patent #7,654,048) ensure that roof rings stay in place for years to come
- 20" x 35.5" oval manhole opening is a comfortable fit for most operators
- Manhole cover is held securely in place by special latches; when open, the lid lays flat against the roof, eliminating the mess of water and soggy bees wings that can accumulate
- 5/16" bolts and flange nuts used on all roof connections
- Bolts are SAE Grade 8.0 for added strength with JS1000® or equivalent coating for exceptional corrosion protection
- 38" peak opening provides approximately 8 ft2 of air exhaust area
- Peak lid cover is mounted on steel rods to allow it to slide open and closed and prevent it from blowing around on windy days
Sidewall Features
- 4" wide corrugation, 44" tall sidewall sheets
- 3/8" bolts and nuts are used on all sidewall connections
