SHEFFIELD, Iowa – This week, Sukup Manufacturing Co. opened an on-site health clinic for all employees at its Sheffield, Iowa, headquarters. Sukup employees may now make appointments at the clinic, called Sukup Health Solutions. The clinic includes four exam rooms, two offices, and one lab, and offers the following services: full service lab, biometric screenings, health coaching, immunizations, triaging urgent care needs, weight loss coaching, smoking cessation, tele-counseling, and other routine clinical tests such as for strep throat. A Registered Nurse and Nurse Practioner from Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa will staff the clinic.
“We recognize that by taking proactive measures, such as biometric screenings and earlier detection of illness, wellness can be significantly improved within our organization. However, we also recognize these services can be difficult to access in rural Iowa,” said Sukup Manufacturing Human Resources representative Samantha Petersburg. “That is why we opened an on-site clinic for Sukup employees. It is our hope they will take advantage of the services offered to improve their over-all health and well-being.”
“Back in November, we announced our intention to open an on-site clinic at Sukup. We received an incredibly positive response, and it is very exciting to see the culmination of months of hard work and collaboration between the company and Mercy – North Iowa,” said Emily Schmitt, Sukup Manufacturing general counsel. “Taking good care of our employees is ingrained at Sukup, and we are pleased to offer this clinic as a demonstration of that value.”
In additional to the health clinic, Sukup Manufacturing promotes wellness as part of its company culture by providing employee single health care premiums for $0, providing fruit to all employees every Wednesday, and took 160 long-term employees and spouses to Hawaii in January 2018.
"We are very excited to support Sukup Manufacturing in improving the health of their employees," said Dan Varnum, President and CEO of Mercy - North Iowa. "Mercy is committed to making this a successful partnership, and we see this as a positive step forward in the focus on overall community wellness."
