New York Yankees Manager and Baseball All-Star Joe Girardi to speak in Sheffield, Iowa on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:20 pm
Sukup Manufacturing Co. and the North Iowa Area Community College’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center are hosting a special one-day event to highlight the continued success of advanced manufacturing in North Iowa.
The 2014 Advanced Manufacturing Leadership Symposium will be held at Sukup Manufacturing Co.’s new headquarters building on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 8:30 am-4:00 pm. The program features:
Baseball All-Star Speaker. Joe Girardi, current New York Yankees Manager and a baseball All-Star is the featured keynote speaker at Sukup Manufacturing Co.’s grand opening for the new corporate headquarters building. Girardi is the luncheon speaker at the Sustaining Industrial All-Stars Symposium to be held November 14, 2014 in Sheffield, IA at Sukup Manufacturing Co. Girardi played for the Colorado Rockies, the Chicago Cubs, the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals and was an All-Star player. He later managed the 2010 American League All-Stars Team and was National League Manager of the Year in 2006 with the Florida Marlins. Girardi graduated in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University. He will speak on developing and managing All-Stars in baseball and industry.
Manufacturing All-Star Co-Host. The event showcases Sukup Manufacturing Co.’s new headquarters building and expanded manufacturing plant, a multi-million dollar investment in Iowa’s advanced manufacturing infrastructure. Demonstrations will include manufacturing robotics (Motoman), 3D printing (Stratasys), fiber laser cutting (Mazak), and virtual welding training/testing equipment (Huber Supply and Lincoln Electric) – among others. The event is co-hosted by the NIACC John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center. The Symposium is titled, Sustaining Industrial All-Stars in North Iowa.
Charity Baseball Memorabilia Auction. Girardi is providing three items to auction. The proceeds of will fund Industrial Technology Division Scholarships at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) to start in one of Iowa’s best career opportunities. Items available for attendees to bid upon include:

Schedule. The full event schedule for Friday, November 14, 2014 is available on-line at www.niacc.edu/sukup-event. Registration opens at 8:00 am. Facility tours begin at 8:30 am. The morning presentations begin at 9:30 am. Lunch is at 11:45 am with Joe Girardi’s keynote address at 12:20 pm. Joe will take questions from the media before 1:00 pm and be available to attendees until approximately 1:30 pm. The Baseball Memorabilia Auction will be at 1:25 pm.
